The RTD4, and why every DEFI tune arrives on one
The device that carries a finished calibration from our bench to your engine controller — and keeps you connected to us after.
The short version
The RTD4 is a small interface that plugs into your vehicle’s diagnostic port. We write your calibration, it lands on the device, you plug it in, it flashes your ECM, and you drive.
It is not a "chip", it does not add power on its own, and it is not a piggyback that lies to your factory computer. It is how a calibration written for your specific vehicle gets into it.
Why it is not optional
We never flash an engineered DEFI calibration without an RTD4 bought with it — whether the tune is shipped to you or done on our dyno. The calibration travels to the device encrypted and is written to the ECU locked. Once it is on the car, it cannot be read back off it: not by the owner, not by a friend with a laptop, and not by a shop that would like to copy it and sell it.
Our calibrations for platforms like the C8 Corvette and the Silverado are engineered from scratch and refined across every car we tune. The RTD4 is what keeps that work from walking out the door on someone else’s laptop, and it is why there is no file-only version of our tune and no credit for an interface bought elsewhere.

What it does for you after the first flash
The RTD4 is your ongoing connection to us. Log a drive and send it: we see what the engine actually did on your fuel, in your climate, under your right foot. The revision comes back to the same device and you flash it in your driveway.
That matters most after the car changes. A pulley, a camshaft, injectors, a supercharger, a fuel change — the next calibration reaches the car without a trailer and without another dyno day unless the job genuinely needs one.
Why some vehicles cannot use one
The RTD4 cannot connect to every controller. Where it cannot, no device we could send would talk to the car, so it comes to Corona, goes on the hubs, and is flashed with our own interface. That is a property of the vehicle, not of the tune, and every vehicle page states which applies before you pay.
