Tuning packages & pricing

Custom tuning at DEFI, or anywhere in the country

One calibration service, delivered two ways. Measure the car, tune the car, and stay connected to the car — every price below is built from the same three figures we quote on the phone.

Just want it measured? Dyno Performance Test, $350

Step one

Choose how it gets tuned

Decide by what you want to happen to the car, not by which part you think you need.

Complete Tuning Package

$1,200+ licensing

  • DEFI Custom Tuning$500
  • Mainline dyno session$350
  • DEFI RTD4 interface$350

Tuned on our dyno, and you leave with the RTD4 — so every later revision reaches the car without another visit. How every factory ECU the RTD4 supports is tuned in the shop.

Supercharged and halo platforms — C8 Z06, ZR1, E-Ray, Hellcat, Demon, Trackhawk, TRX, GT500, Escalade V, Blackwing, GT-R and Raptor — take $900 of DEFI Custom Tuning instead of $500. A locked ECU or TCM adds its air return from HP Tuners, once per order: $100 2-day or $140 next-day.

Every factory ECU the RTD4 supports is tuned in the shop as the Complete Tuning Package — $1,200 + licensing, RTD4 included. The Custom Dyno Tune is for standalone ECUs and for vehicles the RTD4 cannot connect to, which we flash with our own interface.

In every tune

Pump gas and E85, both included

Every calibration comes with two complete maps at the base price: pump gas — 91, or 93 where you can actually buy it — and E85. What costs more is the work that genuinely is more.

  • Pump gas + E85 mapsIncluded
  • Flex fuel — one calibration for any blend; sensor already fitted, we do not supply it+$300
  • An additional map — race fuel, or both 91 and 93+$300
  • Supercharged and halo platforms — C8 Z06, ZR1, E-Ray, Hellcat, Demon, Trackhawk, TRX, GT500, Escalade V, Blackwing, GT-R and RaptorTuning $900
  • Forced induction added to the car — supercharger or turbo+$600
  • Air return of a locked ECU or TCM from HP Tuners, once per order$100 2-day · $140 next-day
  • ECM unlock or adapter cable, where the vehicle needs oneListed per vehicle

Why an RTD4

Your connection to DEFI, not an extra fee

$350, and every DEFI calibration arrives on one. Here is what it does for you after the first flash.

What the RTD4 is

Your tune cannot be copied

The calibration travels to the RTD4 encrypted and is written to the ECU locked. Nobody can read it back off the car — not you, not a friend with a laptop, not a shop that wants to resell it. That is why we never flash an engineered calibration without one.

You own it

It is yours, not a loaner. It stays with the car and it is how every later change reaches it.

Datalogging built in

Log a drive and send it to us. We see what the engine actually did on your fuel, in your climate, under your right foot — not a guess from a phone call.

Revisions without a visit

Pulley, cam, injectors, supercharger, a fuel change — the revision is written here and flashed in your driveway. No trailer, no second dyno day unless the job genuinely needs one.

How it works

Two routes to the same calibration

At DEFI, in Corona

  1. 01Book the session
  2. 02The car goes on the hubs of the Mainline ProHub for a baseline
  3. 03We calibrate under load, watching knock, air temperature and lambda on every pull
  4. 04You leave with the full sheet, and the RTD4 on a factory ECU

Remote, anywhere in the US

  1. 01Order for your exact vehicle
  2. 02Your RTD4 arrives — connect it and log a drive
  3. 03We calibrate from your data
  4. 04Flash it in your driveway, log again, and we review and revise

Compatibility & licensing

Your vehicle, your exact figure

Pick the year, make, model and engine and the vehicle page shows the controller, the credits it needs, any unlock or cable the controller needs, and whether the RTD4 can reach it. The Remote Tune Package price on that page is complete before options, licensing included.

Expectations

Before you pay

How does HP Tuners licensing work?
It depends on the vehicle — the platform vendor sets how many credits each controller needs. It is never folded into a package’s starting price, and it is always inside the complete price on your vehicle’s page, so there is no separate licensing bill.
Do I have to buy an RTD4?
For an engineered DEFI calibration on a factory ECU, yes — shipped or tuned here. The tune travels to the RTD4 encrypted and is written to the ECU locked, so it cannot be read back off the car and copied, and we do not flash our calibrations any other way. The RTD4 is $350 and it is yours to keep. The exceptions are physical: standalone ECUs, which the RTD4 does not talk to, and vehicles the RTD4 cannot connect to, which we flash in the shop with our own interface.
I already have an RTD4 or an MPVI. Can I use it?
Not for a DEFI calibration. The RTD4 is sold with the tune because that is what keeps the file encrypted and the ECU locked. Buying the device from us is not an upsell on top of the calibration — it is how the calibration is delivered.
Is E85 extra?
No. Every tune includes two complete maps at the base price, one for pump gas (91, or 93 where you can buy it) and one for E85. Flex fuel — one calibration that adapts to any blend through a sensor — is +$300, and the sensor must already be fitted; we do not supply or fit flex hardware. A map beyond the pair, such as a race-fuel map, is +$300. E85 needs a fuel system that can keep up, and it costs fuel economy.
What else can change the price?
Supercharged and halo platforms — C8 Z06, ZR1, E-Ray, Hellcat, Demon, Trackhawk, TRX, GT500, Escalade V, Blackwing, GT-R and Raptor — take $900 of DEFI Custom Tuning instead of $500. Forced induction added to a car adds $600 — boost control, knock margin and torque management are a different calibration job. Some controllers need an ECM unlock service or an adapter cable before anything can be written to them; where they do, the vehicle page lists it with its price. Dyno time past the session is $350 an hour, and we tell you before the clock starts.
My ECU or TCM is locked. How does the unlock work?
After you order, we email you an HP Tuners order number on our account. Wait for it — do not ship before it arrives, and write the number on the OUTSIDE of the package in marker. Then you remove the module, package it and ship it to HP Tuners in Illinois at your cost. They unlock it and air-return it from Illinois straight to you; on a shipped order it never passes through us. If we are doing the work in the shop with your car here, we handle the module for you — ask when you book. We pay for that return when we place the order, so it is billed when you order, once for the whole order: $100 for 2-day air or $140 for next-day.
What has to be right with the car first?
It has to be mechanically healthy: fresh plugs, no misfires, no pending codes, no leaks, and a fuel system that supports the power and the fuel you are asking for. A calibration cannot fix a mechanical fault, and we would rather tell you that before the session than find it on the hubs.
What is included in the calibration?
Fuelling, spark, torque management, throttle mapping, rev and speed limiters and cooling fan strategy on every tune, plus what the specific engine has — boost control, cylinder deactivation, active exhaust. Each vehicle page itemises the list for its own controller.
What about revisions?
Most vehicles need at least one revision, and that is normal. Log a drive on the RTD4, send it, and the revision comes back to the same device. New parts, a fuel change or a drivability complaint all start the same way: send the log.
When does a job need more dyno time?
Forced induction, unfamiliar combinations and cars with a drivability problem to solve take longer than a naturally aspirated car with bolt-ons. Extra time is billed in hour blocks and quoted before it starts. We would rather book a second day than rush the last third of the job.
Will it still pass smog?
No. A tuned vehicle is not smog-legal in California, and added power also costs longevity and fuel economy. We say that before you pay, not after.

Measure it. Tune it. Stay connected to it.
